3D computer reconstruction of Basilica and Baptistery from the Archeological site Upliana
06.06.2017.Two years ago, the Mimar Sinan University from Turkey ended its archeological excavations of the Baptistery and Basilica within the archeological site Ulpiana. The Tourism Organization of Gracanica has, during their work at this site, established the extraordinary cooperation with the archeological team led by the Prof. Dr. Haluk Çetinkaja.
That the cooperation still exist, tells the fact that Prof. Dr. Haluk Çetinkaja recently cede the 3D video material computer reconstruction of Basilica and Baptistery. The reconstruction was made based on the archeological findings and construction method typical for that time. The assumption of the Prof. Dr. Çetinkaja that the Basilica and Baptistery are from the fourth century, and that the Basilica is dedicated to St. Florus and Laurus - the saints who had perished at Ulpiana. More than hundred coins from the fourth century has been find at this archeological site, as well as several coins from fifth and sixth century. This discovery at archeological site Ulpiana, as well as arranging and proclamation of such site into Park, has additionally contributed to the increase number of tourists within the Municipality of Gracanica. The survey conducted by TO Gracanica earlier this year showed that Archeological Park Upliana influenced at increase number of overnight stays and thus at tourism development and economic development of the municipality.
